Hearing Aid

An instrument to amplify sounds for those with hearing loss. There are two types of hearing aids: the air conduction type, which is worn in the external acoustic meatus, and the bone conduction type, which is worn in back of the ear over the mastoid process.  An example of a bone conduction type of hearing aid is the Baha® system; the Baha® is a bone anchored hearing aid. An example of a semi-implantable electromagnetic bone conduction hearing aid is the Otomag Hearing System.
