Reconstructive
Reconstructive surgery is a surgical procedure that restores normal form or function. Surgery done to correct significant defects resulting from congenital causes, accidents or disfigurement from a disease state is considered medically necessary. Reconstructive surgery is considered cosmetic when it is done to improve appearance that is within normal individual variation. Surgery done to correct or repair the results of a prior surgical procedure of which the primary purpose was to improve appearance is not considered reconstructive surgery.
